  5.     Thanks for trying out the new Fidget game, I think you'll like it.

  7. Fidget, (as you'll see in the "About Dialog") is a fast paced word game that challenges
  8. your spelling ability "To the Limits"!  The sound effects are very important to the
  9. ambiance of the game and adds a level of minor distraction, testing your concentration
  10. levels as well as your ability to hold back from swearing at your monitor.

  12. The Fidget Data file must be in the same folder, or at the same level as the Fidget
  13. game itself. If the file is missing, check with your BBS sysop or the person you may
  14. have gotten this game from. If all else fails, contact me on Compuserve and I'll help.

  16. Fidget should work on all Macs with System 6.07 or System 7 (needs new sound managers)

  18. Tips:

  20. The game IS designed to accept plurals on most words, try it, but watch out for words
  21. that imply possession or have an apostrophe "ex: Paul's", is not allowed, but 
  22. "ITS" or "JOBS" will work well.
  23.  
  24. When playing against the Mac, don't check the "Proper Nouns" menu. The Mac may use
  25. proper nouns during play, but won't be allowed to keep them.
  26.  
  27. Try to get as many tile sets as possible, early in the game, but don't push it too far
  28. or you will lose everything and give the Mac a big advantage.
  29.  
  30. If your like me, and not the greatest speller in the world, try the easy level. This is
  31. very challenging also, but only allows the Mac no more than two tile sets at a time.

  33. Make sure you have some vowels at the beginning of your turn or you may discover this
  34. later on and really get stuck.

  36. Remember that the "Check" button not only checks your spelling, but also can give you a 
  37. pause in the game to collect your nerves. This will not affect your time scoring. The
  38. dialog is designed to cover up the letters in the dice area. If you have a photographic
  39. memory, this may help.

  41. If it's any consolation, I have beaten the Mac only once, on the "Hard" Level, and I wrote
  42. the darn thing.

  44. There is always a possibility of a bug in the game and at times you may think that the Mac
  45. is "Making up words!". I have even gotten this feeling testing it! Check your dictionary, the
  46. paper one, if you doubt it and send me a bug note and tell me the word if you find one. The
  47. spell checking and Mac play is based on a spelling dictionary, so it is unlikely. I saw the Mac
  48. choose a word "EPEE", this did not seem right, checked the trusty Webster's New World 
  49. dictionary 2nd ed., and "epee - broad two edged sword without a point". I forgot to mention
  50. Fidget is educational too!!
